Do the watches come with box and papers?

With most preowned Rolex watches, as well as other brands, the original box and papers are typically not included with the watch once it is sold to retailers like ourselves. You will find that the majority of watches sold online are sold without original box or papers. This is typically because the box and papers have been misplaced or discarded over time by the original owners. This does not discredit the watches’ authenticity as there are various, more telling and dependable, factors which can be used to verify the authenticity of a timepiece.

For watches which do not bring original box and papers, we do deliver your timepiece in a luxury watch box with a full appraisal indicating the original serial number, model number, and current retail replacement value. All of our watches are indeed certified and guaranteed to be original, as stated on the item listing, and have been authenticated by our certified watchmakers.

The “original paperwork” which is referred to when purchasing a Rolex or other timepiece, is one sheet of paper with the serial number and manufacturer’s warranty terms, which have since expired.

The serial number on the paperwork is actually inscribed on the watch itself as well and is included in any appraisal papers received from our company.

While the majority of our timepieces do not have original paperwork, we do often have a good selection of timepieces with original box and papers. Please check listings for notations indicating original box and/or papers or contact us for availability.

If original paperwork is an absolute necessity with your purchase, we can check with our dealer network to see if your timepiece is available with papers. Please note that this may increase the price of your watch.

Rolex boxes are indeed available for purchase with any Rolex watch order, however this will normally come at an additional price if we did not get this watch when we obtained it. Same applies for Cartier, Breitling, Omega boxes and others. We can purchase them, but it will increase the price on the watch.

How do I know these watches are authentic?

Planet4watches does NOT deal in replicas or non-authentic watches. Every pre-owned watch we sell is thoroughly inspected, authenticated, cleaned, polished and maintained by our staff and qualified watchmakers. Any custom or aftermarket parts are disclosed in the item listing, and can be further clarified if you contact us.
Please note that the use of custom parts does not discredit the authencity of the core components which we guarantee to be original.

We do NOT deal with Rolex watches that have aftermarket bracelets, or as some other's call them Italian bracelets or custom bracelets. All our Rolex watches have original bracelets.

Why can't I see any serial numbers on the photos of the listed watches / items?

All watches we sell have the serial number engraved on them, however we have removed this information from the photos for safety, security and privacy reasons.
This is due to past experience, where there have been people who have tried to "steal" this information and report these watches as lost or stolen, using the real serial numbers they found online.
For this reason, to protect future buyers and ourselves against such fraud and criminal activity we do not give out the serial numbers to people on request by e-mail or phone. As this number is the unique identifier for this timepiece, and can be misused if it ends in the wrong hands.
For you as the buyer, this should give you some comfort that only you will get this information, as every day we get many e-mails, and it would be un-acceptable to share this number with everybody who requested this information.
However we are happy to provide part of the number, if this can have some practical use for the potential buyer. Please contact us for such requests.

Also we are happy to provide law-enforcement this information upon request and that they have been properly identified by us.
(There is no need to come storming into our offices or try to entrap any of our sales-team, a phone-call or e-mail will suffice, and we will provide whatever information that you might require)

Rest assured, the serial number is on all the watches we sell.

Do you do part exchange?

Yes we do Part-exchange, however the least we require is that you send us some photos, and gives us a price indication of what you expect to get for your watch, or what you have been offered for it. It is not possible for us to be both buyer and seller, but we will try to get you a great deal.

Can we arrange collection and come and see the watch before we buy?

Yes, this is no problem. Even if you confirm to buy on eBay, it does not mean that you are not able to cancel the transaction if you are not happy with your purchase. You can arrange to come and see the watch by appointment, before you make payment.
In this case please be aware we normally need at least 1 day’s prior notice, and we will only meet in vicinity of London area. Normally we will provide you with address details for a safe place to meet in the daytime, both weekdays and week-ends is possible.
Please message us or call us to arrange appointment upon request. We are convientally located close to the M1 / A1 / North Circular close to Barnet. So if you coming by car from out of London, no need to go into central London.

Please note, there is no pressure or obligation to buy, even if you have won the auction on eBay, if you are not happy we can just cancel the transaction mutually.

Do you provide any after-care / repairs / service?

Yes we do, not us directly, as we are not watch repairers / watchmakers, however we have excellent connections who can service and repair most Swiss watches.
Please contact us for price quote, you most likely will have to send us your watch so our watchmaker can provide an exact quote after the initial quote is provided by us. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

I am interested in a watch not shown in your online store what can I do?

With many new and second hand watches becoming increasingly difficult to locate we would advise you to complete our Watch finder form and we will endeavour to find it for you. Please remember to give us as much detail as you can, including the model number as this will help speed up the process. Please also note that with many watches we may sometimes offer attractive discounts from the High Street prices.

How long will it take you to find the watch I am looking for?

I'm afraid we can never offer an exact time scale when looking for second hand watches. This is because we rely on advertising, part exchanges and our reputation to maintain our stock levels. What we can guarantee is that we will do our best to locate the watch for you in the minimum time and will not stop searching until you let us know otherwise. With new watches we will normally be able to provide a delivery date.

Can I part exchange a watch I already have?

Yes. Providing it is a brand we deal in and the condition is at worst fair, we will gladly take any part exchanges. This can be done by completing our selling form. We do not take in poor condition watches as all our watches come with a 6 months guarantee and this is not always possible when a watch has not been properly taken care of.

Why is it more expensive to buy online with a credit card than a bank transfer?

Unfortunately, this is due to the fact that our payment service providers, Paypal  take a percentage of the transaction value. However, you do have other forms of payment methods you can use, see Payment options.

What guarantee do I have you will send me the watch when I have paid?

Although this is a new site we are not a new company.  We keep records of all correspondence between the two parties should you need them and if asked we will gladly e-mail you our exact intentions and what you may expect from us prior to the shipment or payment of watches. We are a family run business that prides itself on its excellent reputation. You can also view our feedbacks in Ebay.co.uk our seller ID here is Planetwatch, to help ease any uncertainty.

What if I change my mind after a few days and decide that I don't like the watch?

Providing the watch is not as described in the advertising, this can be returned within 48 hours after signature of delivery, the watch must be in exactly the same merchantable condition as it was when supplied, we will gladly refund you, less our postage and packaging/ shipping charges.
Unfortunately, once the watch has been worn you automatically wave the right to a full refund and will be liable for a variable restocking fee (depending on the value of the watch). So please be certain this is the watch you want before wearing and enjoying it. See our Returns policy for full details.

Can I come to your shop and see the watch before I buy it?

Sorry we don't have a shop, we are an online shop ONLY! However we can arrange with meetings with serious buyers to preview a watch with intention to buy. This can be arranged when it is convenient for both parts.

Can I claim any VAT back?

In most cases I am afraid not! As we deal mainly in pre-owned watches the VAT has already been paid when the watch was originally purchased. Therefore the price you see does not reflect VAT. We occasionally source new models and VAT may be able to be claimed on these, but we suggest that when you are interested in a particular model you can ask one of our sales team for more information.

Can you adjust the bracelet to fit my wrist?

Yes. When you place an order you will need to let us know your wrist measurement so we can adjust the bracelet for a perfect fit.  Please note that when your watch is delivered you will receive any extra links that have been removed.

When will my watch first need servicing?

As most of our watches are second hand we always guarantee them for a period of 3 months. (please note that some vintage watches are exempt from this). It is unlikely that in this time we would need to service your watch. Generally, we would recommend that if your watch is running fine without any complications, you should service your watch every two years. New watches are usually recommended to be serviced after three years of use.

How long will my watch be waterproof for? (if applicable)

As the rubber seals in watches are perishable we would always recommend having the water tightness of your watch checked and maintained once every year.

Will you pass my details onto any third party companies?

NO WE DON'T.  Planet4Watches.com only collects personal data for seamless transactions. Our reputation is built strongly on customer loyalty, trust and confidence. You will receive no Spam (Junk Mail), third party letters or telephone calls as a result of giving us your contact details.

Where can I insure my watch?

We would suggest placing your watch on your "Home Contents Insurance". A watch costing around £2000 will add a premium of roughly £40 annually, to your policy.

My insurance has asked for a Valuation Certificate, can you supply this?

Because of this, all our watches are sent out with an Insurance Valuation. This will detail a description of the watch, noting the model and serial numbers and the current new replacement price. If your policy is not "New for Old" it is unlikely that you will need the valuation, so the receipt detailing the same information should do.
